Transcend 266X (2 GB)Website manufacturer: TranscendModel: 266X Capacity: 2 GB (1943 MiB) Speed rating: 266X (40 MB/s) Warranty: lifetime PerformanceAddonics IDE to CF adapterAverage read speed: 47.1 MB/s (321X) Average write speed: 17.3 MB/s (118X) Hama Traveldrive CF Average read speed: 45.4 MB/s (309X) Average write speed: 17.0 MB/s (115X) Canon XTi/400D Files per minute (Jpeg+RAW): 54 ConclusionWhen I first ran the test I couldn't believe my eyes. The Transcend, rated at 'only' 266X far exceeds its speed rating. It has the highest read speed of all cards we tested. So is this the fastest card in the world? Unfortunately not because things make a turn for the worse when the write speed is tested. With an average speed of 17 MB/s it's the slowest of all UDMA cards and that's a big disappointement after seeing the read speeds. Not surprisingly the Transcend also has the lowest in-camera performance. |
